Joseph W. "Joe" Vitt, 49, of rural Parsons, died at 11:39 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Wesley Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita. He was born November 25, 1964 in Parsons, Kansas to Charles William and Anna Mae (Davied) Vitt. He grew up in rural Parsons where he attended Service Valley Grade School and was a 1983 graduate of Labette County High School in Altamont where he participated in wrestling and was a member of Future Farmers of America. He also attended Labette Community College in Parsons. Through the years Joe was employed by Grandview Products, Ruskin Manufacturing for 16 years, worked as a cattleman at Beachner's for 10 years, and most recently owned and operated Joe Bob's BBQ. He enjoyed ranch rodeos, being outdoors, riding horses, barbequing, and was a leather crafter. Joe especially enjoyed spending time with his children, family and friends. On May 12, 1990, he and Sherri K. Yoder were married at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. They later divorced. Survivors include: Father – Charles Vitt Tecumseh, KS One Son – Gabe Vitt of the home One Daughter – Alisha Vitt of the home Three Sisters – Janice Kimrey and her husband, Leslie Edna, KS Joyce Rosson and her husband, Roger Edna, KS Janey Higginson Parsons, KS Numerous Nieces and Nephews A Host of Friends He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Mae Mies, on September 24, 1993. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Memorials are suggested to the Vitt Children's Educational Fund.
