Joseph "J.E." Reynolds

October 7, 1940 — December 6, 2008

Joseph "J.E." Reynolds, 68, of Edna, died at 5:10 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was born October 7, 1940, in Columbia, North Carolina, to William Thomas and Vedia Mae (Swain) Reynolds.

He grew up and attended schools in Columbia, North Carolina, and in later years, earned a Bachelors degree from Ozark Bible College. In 1966, he moved to Brandywine, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Reserves.

Through the years, he and his wife served in the ministry as pastors at Roanoke Isle Church of Christ, Gum Neck Church of Christ and Robersonville Church of Christ, all in North Carolina; the Christian Church in Brandywine, West Virginia; the Christian Church in Lawshe, Ohio; the Christian Church in Seneca, Missouri; the Westside Christian Church in Coffeyville; the Elm Christian Church in Edna; and the First Christian Church in Coffeyville.

He was an avid carpenter and woodcraftsman. He also did leather craft for several years and enjoyed photography.

He was a member of the Edna Masonic Lodge where he had served as Past Grand Master.

He and Peggy J. Barnes were married June 27, 1959, in Columbia, North Carolina. She survives of the home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the First Christian Church in Coffeyville. Burial will be in the North Edna Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Coffeyville or the Elm Christian Church in Edna. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O.
