Josephine Dwyer

Josephine A. Dwyer, 95, of Parsons, died at 6:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons.

She was born October 6, 1911, in Geary, Oklahoma, to Francis and Barbara (Wosika) Colchin. As a child, she moved to Parsons where she attended St. Mary's Catholic School and later graduated from Parsons High School. She also attended Olson's Business College.

On May 15, 1934, she and Hugh "Honey" Dwyer were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parsons. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1991.

She worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant from 1951 through 1975 at which time she retired. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, now St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She also was a member of Daughters of Isabella and Altar Society of which she was past president.

Twenty-Two Great-Grandchildren

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Anita; one granddaughter, Debbie; four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2007, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
