Josh D. Ybarra

Josh D. Ybarra, of Kansas City, Missouri, and formerly of Mound Valley, passed away on May 26, 2023, at his home after a brief illness.

Joshua Daniel Ybarra was born on March 6, 1979, to Joe and Mollie Ybarra in Wichita, Kansas.  He grew up and attended school in Mound Valley, earning his GED after attending Labette County High School.

As a young man, Josh moved to the Kansas City area, where he enjoyed murder mysteries, playing on his computer, and watching his favorite television shows, such as the soap opera "Passions" and the cartoon "Scooby-Doo."  He was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins and Kansas City Chiefs fan.  His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.

His parents – Joe and Mollie Ybarra of Mound Valley, Kansas

One brother – Joel Ybarra of Louisburg, Kansas

Aunts and uncles – Rosie Corle of Independence, Kansas; Bessie Disch of Dallas, Texas; Jesse and Peggy Ybarra of Altamont, Kansas; Brenda Ybarra of Mound Valley, Kansas; and Wayne Butler of Cushing, Oklahoma

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ephraim and Dorothy Butler; his paternal grandparents, Jose and Carmen Ybarra; two uncles, Alex Ybarra and Aldon Corle; and one aunt Mona Davidson.

There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Mound Valley Christian Church.
