Judith C. "Judy" Mead, 73, of Parsons, passed away at 3:51 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2018 at her home.
She was born December 18, 1944 in Parsons, Kansas to Harrison Roy and Mary Bessie (Farris) Stover. She grew up in Parsons where she attended school and graduated in 1962 from Parsons High School. While attending high school, Judy worked at the Hamburger Hut owned by her parents.
She and James A. Mead were married in August of 1965. They later divorced. She was a stay-at-home mother until her divorce. She then worked in housekeeping at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center until retiring.
In earlier years, she enjoyed playing softball. She also enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include:
One Son – Jason Mead and his wife, Jessica, of Parsons, KS
One Daughter – Kena Mead and her companion, Caleb Jackson, of Topeka, KS
Five Grandchildren – Stephanie Bynum and her husband, Clayton, Tania McCurdy, Christian Mead, Holley Mead, and Jason Mead, Jr.
Seven Great Grandchildren
One Brother – Harrison "Poke" Stover and his wife, Lynn, of Parsons, KS
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Bill Stover, Kenny Stover, and infant, Jerry Lee Stover; and one sister, Joyce Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
