Judy Reed, 60, of Chetopa, died at 4:52 p.m., Monday, May 28, 2007, in the emergency room at Labette Health in Parsons. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
She was born October 21, 1946, in Welch, Oklahoma, to Willard and Wylma (Mount) Pease. She grew up and attended schools in Chetopa, graduating from Chetopa High School in 1966.
She and Kenny Reed were married June 26, 1964, in Chetopa. He survives of the home. She was the former owner/operator of the Redwood Café in Chetopa and had worked as a cook for various area restaurants. She also was the former owner/operator of the Shorthorn Tavern in Chetopa where she was presently employed.
She had served on the Chetopa City Council since 2003. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and lawn work. In the late 1960's, she was saved in the Baptist Church in Chetopa under Rev. Carol Holden's ministry.

One Daughter – Lisa Prose and her companion, Darryl Nadeau Chetopa, KS
Three Grandchildren – Nathan Prose, Mikelynn Reed, Jimmy Hallam and was expecting the fourth grandchild
Grandmother - Rue Everitt Chetopa, KS
One Brother - Danny Pease and his wife, Hattie Lou Miami, OK
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 1, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may call at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home after 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2007.
