Julia Mae Criss, 79, longtime resident of Parsons, died at 1:40 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 27, 1931, in Oswego, Kansas, to Andrew and Helen (Parks) Johnson. She grew up in Oswego where she attended school and was a graduate of Oswego High School.
In the 1960's, she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant before moving to Topeka for ten years. While living in Topeka, she worked at the Topeka State Hospital and returned to Parsons in 1990.
She and Thomas Patterson were married in 1950 and later divorced. In 1968, she married Merrit Criss. They later divorced.

One Brother – Eric Johnson Topeka, KS
One Sister – Marcella Booker Inkster, MI
She was preceded in death by one brother, Andrew "Skip" Johnson; and one daughter, Saundra Day, in 2006.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Oswego Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Friends may also call at their convenience throughout the day on Wednesday at the funeral home.
