June Carson, 81, of rural Parsons, died at 9:09 p.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at her home known as Corbett Farms.
She was born October 1, 1924 at the Mercy Hospital in Parsons to Alfred L. Hayes, Sr. and Sadie (Corbett) Hayes. She grew up and attended Mentor Country School and graduated from Parsons High School in 1942 and later from Parsons Business College. In the early 40's, she was employed by Pfeiffer Jewelry, the West Theatre and Cole's Department Store, all in Parsons. During WWII she lived in Vallejo, California where she was employed as a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines.
On April 4, 1944 she married John Joseph "Joe" Carson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Parsons. In 1946, she and her husband moved to St. Louis, Missouri for one year. Upon their return to Parsons, they owned and operated Carson Funeral Homes, Thompson Motel and Corbett Farms. She and her husband were actively engaged in the funeral business since 1944. June worked most recently as a restorative cosmetologist at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
For the past ten years, June was a cooperative weather observer for National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. She was a lifelong member of Business and Professional Women. She also volunteered at the St. Vincent DePaul Society and helped deliver for the Meals on Wheels Program. During WWII she was a Red Cross nursing volunteer.
She enjoyed reading, sewing and horseback riding. June loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons, St. Patrick's Altar Society of which she was past president and the Parsons Riding Club.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer; one brother, Alfred Leslie "Buddy" Hayes; one sister, Jane Elizabeth Brown; and a great-granddaughter, Jacie Bebb.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2006 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends following the Rosary. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
