June Volz, 75, lifelong resident of Mound Valley, died unexpectedly at her home Saturday, November 17, 2012.
She was born February 13, 1937, in Mound Valley, Kansas, to Leonard and Ann (Blake) Billingsly. She grew up and attended school in Mound Valley and was a 1955 graduate of Mound Valley High School.
She worked 28 years at the former Automotive Controls in Independence until retiring in the late 1990's.
She enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, and attending crafts class. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog, "Glory Be".
She and John P. Volz were married November 13, 1955 in Mound Valley. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2005.
Survivors include:
One Son – Mark Volz and his wife, Becky Galesburg, KS
One Daughter – Martha Robertson and husband, Randy Waukomis, OK
Six Grandchildren – Seth Volz, Sarah Coover, Missy Stiffler, Tony Robertson, John Robertson and Brian Robertson
Eleven Great-Grandchildren
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, until service time at the funeral home.
