Junia K. Carter

Junia K. Carter, 62, of Altamont, passed away at 4:20 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was born December 12, 1955 in Kennett, Missouri to Raymond and Janie Ruth (Martin) Cook.  As a young girl, she grew up in Ft. Morgan, Colorado where she graduated from high school.  She later earned an Associate degree from Labette Community College in Parsons.

She and Carvie Irwin had been together since 1982.  For a time, they lived in Cherryvale before moving to Mound Valley where they lived for 26 years.  The couple had lived in Altamont the past year.

She was employed by Farm Bureau Financial Services in Altamont for 19 years as a secretary.  She loved reading books, doodling, watching television, and attending auctions.

One Son – Joshua Carter of KS

One Daughter – Leigh Anna Carter of Parsons, KS

Four Grandchildren – Audrey Weyant, Chloe Weyant, Kaneesha Stringfellow, and Jeremy Stringfellow

Two Sisters – Ruthie Cardova of Akron, CO

Debbie Larson of Wichita, KS

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
