Karen M. Harrington, 69, of Parsons, died at 12:58 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons. She had been in failing health.
She was born May 26, 1939, in Sherman, Kansas, to Slim and Bertha (Whitson) Miller. At the age of six, she was adopted by Elmer and Veda (Patterson) Wilson. Following Veda's death, she was raised by her father and stepmother, Irene (Scott) Wilson.
She grew up and attended schools in rural Labette County and was a 1957 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
Through the years, she worked at Grandview Products, Tastee Freeze and Broderick's. Most recently, she had worked as a dietary clerk at Labette Health.
She and Duane E. Harrington, Sr., were married July 22, 1961. They later divorced.
She enjoyed playing bingo, making afghans, cooking and was an active committee member in the American Cancer Relay for Life. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Parsons.

Leona Russell Parsons, KS
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and daughter-in-law, Tonya Harrington.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2008, at the Church of the Nazarene in Parsons. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
