Karen L. Mahan, 69, of Parsons, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at her home. Her death was unexpected.
Karen Lynn Bush was born on March 4, 1955, to Charles Melvin and Shirley Joyce (Page) Bush in Parsons, Kansas. She grew up and attended school in Parsons.
For over 30 years, Karen was a dedicated caregiver of the residents at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. In retirement, she continued working part-time as an in-home caregiver to elderly people, a job she loved.
She also loved her dogs, Momo and Shadow. Bowling, going to the casino, and watching football, especially the New York Jets, were some of Karen's favorite past times. She also loved the color purple and unicorns.
Survivors include:
One daughter – Tabitha Jalali and her husband, Hamid, of Amarillo, Texas
Three grandchildren – Cameron Jalali and his wife, Tana; Denyale Salazar and her husband, Ray; and Layla Theiss and her husband, Christian
Six great-grandchildren – Josie and Ava Jalali; Mason, Elliana and Aria Salazar; and Amelia Theiss
Two brothers – Roger Bush and his wife, Dana, of Basehor, Kansas
Charles "Butch" Bush of Parsons, Kansas
Three sisters – Gloria Talbot and her husband, David, of Parsons, Kansas
Pam Giefer and her husband, Ron, of Parsons, Kansas
Wendy Bush of Parsons, Kansas
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Nathan Mahan; and her brother, Wayne Bush.
The Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Everyone is encouraged to wear purple in honor of Karen's love of purple.
