Katherine P. "Kay" Taylor

April 19, 1918 — February 11, 2009

Katherine P. "Kay" Taylor, 90, of Parsons, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Family Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita.

She was born, the oldest of seven children, to Thomas and Pearl (Schultz) Lyons on April 19, 1918, in Denver, Colorado, where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from High School in Denver in 1935, attended Denver University and graduated from Barnes School of Business.

Prior to marriage, Kay worked for the Public Roads Division, Woolworth's District Office and the Kansas City Life Insurance Company, all in Denver.
She and Raymond H. Taylor were married June 1, 1947, in Denver, Colorado. Following marriage, they made their home in Parsons where they owned and operated Taylor Dairy for many years. He preceded her in death May 25, 2002.

Kay served as church secretary for the First United Methodist Church and worked as a teacher's aide at Washington Elementary School until her retirement.

She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, traveling throughout the United States on numerous bus trips, and spending time with family and friends. Kay was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons, the Alpha Club and Don't Dodge Difficulties (DDD) Club.

One Sister – Evelyn Boucher Reedville, VA

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2009, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
