Kathleen McMurray-Bingham, 78, a former resident of Savonburg and Erie, died at 10:55 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita. She was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2009.
She was born November 2, 1931, in Mason County, West Virginia, to David Ellis and Iva May (Parsons) Donohue. As a young girl, she attended schools in Harrisonville, Ohio.
On February 16, 1948, she and John L. McMurray were married in Harrisonville, Ohio. The couple moved to Atchison, Kansas, in 1959, then to Lansing, Kansas, in 1969, and Savonburg, Kansas, in 1972. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1985.
In 1989, she moved to Erie, where she was employed by Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home for several years. On October 14, 1995, she and Billy R. Bingham were married in Erie. The couple moved to Emporia in May 2002, and had lived there since.
Through the years she had attended the Temple Baptist Church in Erie, the Westside Baptist Church in Emporia, and the Savonburg Bible Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and gardening.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Laurance Donohue; one sister, Mildred Lee; one son, Carl McMurray, on May 21, 1999; one granddaughter, Amanda; and one great-granddaughter, Johannah.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Savonburg Bible Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Savonburg. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
