Katie Mae Drayton, 78, of Parsons, passed away at 4:54 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born July 22, 1937 in Tallahassee, Oklahoma to Ray and Helen (Jones) Stephens. As a child, Katie moved with her family to Parsons.
For many years, she worked in housekeeping at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center until retiring in 1996 and also cleaned houses.
Katie was a member of the Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons and the Voguettes. She enjoyed cooking, being outdoors, fixing hair, talking on the phone, and shopping. Katie especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She and Bennie Drayton were married in August of 1968 in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by one son, Nathaniel Bernard Stephens; two brothers, Robert Stephens and Xenphone Stephens; and one sister, Hortense Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
