Katie E. Harris

Katie E. Harris, 92, of Parsons, passed away the morning of Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at her home.

Katie Edwards Harris was born on February 29, 1932, to Eddie and Annie (Ward) Edwards in Rayville, Louisiana.

Most of Katie's life was spent caring for her family, whom she loved dearly.  She enjoyed watching television, especially BET and the Family Feud with Steve Harvey.  Gardening and growing flowers were also favorite hobbies.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of the Macedonia Soul-Winning Church Ministry in Parsons.

Survivors include:

Four sons – Robert Thomas Harris of Parsons, Kansas

Gus Harris and his wife, Evelyn, of Parsons, Kansas

Thomas Harris of Parsons, Kansas

McHenry Harris of Parsons, Kansas

Two daughters – Annie Jones and her husband, Kenneth, of Parsons, Kansas

Katie B. Harris of Parsons, Kansas

25 grandchildren

Numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harris; one son, Joseph "Sonny" Harris, Jr.; three grandchildren, Jason Williams, Kenneth Jones, James Robert Harris, and Loretta Mays; and one sister, Rosa Lee Mayfield.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Watson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Parsons.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
