Kelly R. Garrett, 44, of Parsons, died at 5:05 a.m., Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

She was born May 4, 1966, in Parsons, Kansas, to Clay W. and Betty L. (Thomas) Hopkins. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons where she lived the majority of her life.

She and George W. Garrett, Sr. were married September 17, 1988 in Parsons. They lived in Mulberry from 1991 until his death in 1999. At that time, she returned to Parsons.

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and also enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, camping, going to casinos and watching wrestling. She was a ham radio operator KCOCWQ.

Four Sisters – Rebekah Ghering Coffeyville, KS
Rosetta Wilson Parsons, KS
Kaye Hopkins Parsons, KS
Brenda Lumm Parsons, KS

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Garrett, Sr., on August 11, 1999; her father, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2011, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
