Kenneth H. Gearhiser, 85, of Blue Springs, Missouri, and formerly of Altamont, Kansas, passed away at 8:34 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at The Parkway Senior Living in Blue Springs, Missouri.

He was born August 7, 1931 near Altamont, Kansas to John Howard and Mary Elizabeth (Livick) Gearhiser. He grew up and attended schools in Altamont where he graduated from Labette County Community High School in 1949.

On August 7, 1952, he and Marjorie E. Post were married in Edna. Shortly after marriage, Kenneth entered the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War.

Following his honorable discharge in April of 1957, the couple lived and worked in Louisiana before moving to Wichita, and later the Kansas City area, where he worked at Allis-Chalmers for 22 years. After retiring, the couple lived at Eagle Rock and Grain Valley, Missouri where they enjoyed spending time with their family. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Kent Gearhiser of San Diego, CA, and Kevin Gearhiser and his companion, Stacie Wilson, of Independence, MO; and one granddaughter, Chelci Gearhiser.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie E. Gearhiser, on February 4, 2015 and one brother, Richard Gearhiser.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be at the Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
