Kenneth L. George, 68, of Oswego, Kansas, died at 8:07 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 19, 1943, in Chetopa, Kansas, to Lelin and Lorene (Reed) George. As a young boy, he grew up in Southeast Kansas and was a 1961 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
From 1961 to 1977, he served in the United States Army. While serving his country, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and was recognized as an expert marksman. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm. He most recently had worked as a laborer at Bartlett Coop until retiring in 2003.
He was a member of West Mineral Eagles Aerie 918. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.

Allan George Oswego, KS
Three Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil George.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa.
