Kenneth Edward Herold, 92, of Altamont, died at 11:15 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2012, at Labette Health in Parsons.
He was born June 3, 1920, in Spearville, Kansas, to Louis and Cressie (Tubbs) Herold. He was a graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont. During World War II, he served in the United States Army as a communication specialist in the Pacific Theater.
He and Mary Ethel Dennis were married December 22, 1940, in Chanute, Kansas. Through the years, he farmed with his brother, Henry, in the Altamont area until retiring.
He was a charter member of the Independent Baptist Church, now Grace Baptist Church, in Altamont where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Labette County Farm Bureau Association and the Altamont Co-op and had served as a board member for each organization.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Herold, on December 14, 2002; and Henry Herold, on September 1, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Grace Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial will be Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
