Kenneth L. Kuffler

Kenneth L. Kuffler, 91, of Parsons, died at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Labette Health. He had been in failing health for several years.

He was born September 26, 1918, in Parsons, Kansas, to Andrew and Mary (Bordall) Kuffler. As a young boy, he grew up on the family farm northeast of Parsons where he attended Stone Palace School.

He served in the United States Army Tank Corps from 1942-1945 in Oahu and Saipan. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Council Bluff, Iowa, where he worked at Omaha Standard, retiring from there in 1984. After retirement, he returned to Parsons where he had lived since.

He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, in Parsons. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, playing pool, and playing the guitar and mandolin.

On March 9, 1946, he and Mildred Genevieve Holding were married in Erie, Kansas. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by one son, David Leroy Kuffler; one brother, Wilbur Kuffler; one sister, Iala Marie; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
