Kenneth Eugene Mariott, 66, of Chetopa, Kansas, passed away the morning of Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Chetopa, Kansas after a sudden illness.

Ken was born March 11, 1958, to Allen and Mary (Schindler) Mariott in El Paso, TX. Ken's father served as a civilian contractor to the U.S. government and the family lived in several states before settling down in southeast Kansas. Ken graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont, Kansas, in 1976. After high school, Ken served in the U.S. Air Force before returning to civilian life and raising his two children in Neosho, Missouri.

Over a 35+ year career, Ken served in various roles in the transportation and trucking industry. One of his favorite jobs was serving as the bus driver for the Crowder College athletic teams. Ken loved traveling the country and his children fondly remember several trips in his Peterbilt trucks. In 2020, he retired to Chetopa, Kansas.

Ken was steadfast in his faith and love of God. He also enjoyed many activities, including riding his motorcycle, woodworking, hunting, fishing, reading his Bible, his pet cats, and discussing news and politics with friends and family.

Ken is survived by his two children: David Mariott and his wife Aleigha, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Lacy Harrington and her husband Cliff, of Neosho, Missouri. Ken had four grandchildren: Shya, Bree, and Avry Harrington, of Neosho, Missouri; and Jacob Mariott, of Stillwater Oklahoma. Ken is also survived by his two brothers and sister: Richard Mariott and his wife LeAnne, of Citrus Heights, California; Paty Saathoff and her husband Doug of Citrus Heights, California; and Don Mariott and his wife Jammie, of Nixa, Missouri. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Mary Mariott.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2024, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Chetopa, KS.  Military honors will be provided by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.  Services are under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa.
