Kenneth J. Porter, 79, of Chetopa, died at 8:10 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.
He was born January 25, 1934, in Scoffield, Missouri, to Leo Beacher and Geraldine (Camel) Porter. As a young boy, he attended Mound Valley Grade School.
From 1953-1965, he served in the United States Air Force as a member of the Strategic Air Command.
Through the years, he owned and operated a sawmill and salvage yard in Welch, Oklahoma, and later owned and operated a grocery store in Bronaugh, Missouri, until his retirement.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Daughter-in-law and caregiver – Cindy Porter Chetopa, KS

Numerous Great-Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gerri Drake; one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9-10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
