Kenneth D. Rice, I, 75, of Welch, Oklahoma, formerly of Mound Valley, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri.
He was born December 29, 1931, in Wichita, Kansas, to John Albert and Helen Marie (Davis) Rice. He grew up in southeast Kansas and later attended school in Healing Springs, Arkansas.
In 1960, he met Beverly Barnes in Kansas City where they were living at the time. They were united in marriage on June 6, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 21, 2003.
Through the years he worked as a truck driver for Claridge Trucking in Harrison, Arkansas. He enjoyed all types of sports and also enjoyed trading things with other people. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed life to its fullest and took pride in providing for his wife and family.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Rice; one great-granddaughter, Alisha Rice; three brothers, Wallace Wilson Rice, Albert Rice and David Lee Rice; and three sisters, Thelma White, Phyllis Switzer and Norma Jean Bennett.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
