Kevan L. Kinser, 77, of Edna, passed away surrounded by his loving family the afternoon of Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Kevan Lee Kinser was born on September 20, 1946, to Adrain and Virginia (Wilmoth) Kinser in Miami, Oklahoma. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Kansas. He attended several rural one-room grade schools in Labette County. In 1964, he graduated from Labette County Community High School. Following high school, he attended Labette Community College for a time. He also served in the Army National Guard.
He turned his love for automotives into a profession. After being a cross country trucker, Kevan started his own mechanic and wrecker business. For over 30 years, he was a car hauler, which he did until retirement.
Throughout the years, Kevan was a member of the Edna Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion. He attended Elm Christian Church.
He always had a project car in the works, using his talent and knowledge to build and show hot rod cars. He liked to race circle track cars and race motorcycles. Watching Indy races was also a favorite pastime. An avid Star Trek fan, he enjoyed watching anything Star Trek. His greatest love was his family, and he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play basketball and baseball.
On December 26, 1968, Kevan and Aletta Diane Reno were united in marriage in Vinita, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

Six great-grandchildren – Kurtis, Saphira and Shiva Kinser of Edna, Kansas
Shakur Smith of Parsons, Kansas
Mila and Marvin Wulf with a sibling on the way, of Chetopa, Kansas
One brother – Gary Kinser and his wife, Pam, of Edna, Kansas
One sister – Carol Swiger and her husband, Brian, of Coffeyville, Kansas
Numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ginger Stanley.
The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Edna Elm Grove Cemetery in Edna. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Elm Christian Church in Edna.
