Kimberly Juenemann

Kimberly "Kim" Knudson Juenemann, 55, of Chetopa, peacefully passed away June 10, 2011 at her home in Chetopa, KS.

She was born on December 5, 1955, in Colby, Kansas to Jack and Dorothy (Cox) Knudson. Her childhood years were spent in Rexford, KS, graduating from Golden Plains High School. She then earned her Associate Degree from Colby Community College, Colby Kansas. She was awarded a BA in English Education with Honors and a MS in Education/Reading Specialist from Fort Hays State University. After graduation, she taught English, and coached girls volleyball and basketball at Colby Junior High, Colby Kansas. After three years, Kim began teaching High School English, Forensics, and Yearbook at Golden Plains High School in Rexford, Kansas. She became Superintendent of schools in Jennings, Kansas, Herndon, Kansas and for USD 505 Chetopa-St Paul.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Lawrence "Larry" F., of the home; their son Lawrence Luke of Gem, KS, his wife Julie and their children, Jorja and Jemma; as well as their son, Theodore Jack of Pittsburg, KS, and his significant other, Mariah; her father, Jack Knudson and sister, Juliann Groom, both of Atwood, KS; and brother, Thomas Korby Knudson and wife Pam of Colby, KS; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy (Cox) Knudson; one brother, J. Todd Knudson; and Godson/nephew, Brett Spresser.
Kim will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her passionate love of family, her constant striving for excellence, and her tireless work for the children and staff to whom she gave her support without reservation.

With her leadership, USD 505 Chetopa became USD 505 Chetopa - St. Paul which was a constant source of pride. She could be seen in virtually every school and community event. She was an ardent supporter for the towns of Chetopa and St. Paul and worked in many civic organizations promoting small town life.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Chetopa High School gymnasium.

A second memorial service will be held at 1:15 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Rexford Community Church in Rexford, Kansas. Burial will follow at Rexford Cemetery.

The family requests that contributions be made to the "Kim Juenemann Memorial Scholarship Fund". These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, KS 67336.
