Larry D. Swanwick

Larry D. Swanwick, 54, of Chetopa, passed away at 10:47 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

He was born August 8, 1962 in Oswego, Kansas to Robert Eugene and Bobbie Lou (Burrows) Swanwick.  He grew up and attended school in Chetopa where he graduated from Chetopa High School in 1980.  He then attended Pittsburg State University where he studied auto mechanics and welding.

For several years, Larry farmed.  He then worked at Tank Connections in Oswego until retiring due to health issues.

He had attended the Methodist Church in Chetopa.  Larry enjoyed spending time with his family.

On March 13, 1998, he and Darla J. Conner were married in Miami, Oklahoma.  She survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, David "Cole" Swanwick of the home and Shane Rice and his wife, Rena, of rural Chetopa, KS; one daughter, Kendra Rice of Chetopa, three grandchildren, Nevaeh Rice, Tymberlynn Rice and Vanslee Nading; one brother, Tony Swanwick and his wife, Terri, of Chetopa, KS; and one sister, Becky Yocham and her husband, Keith, of Lenexa, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Following cremation, graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa under the direction of the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
