Larry D. Dalton, 82, of Oswego, passed away at 10:28 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021, at his home.
He was born on November 12, 1938, to Lloyd and Doris (Cox) Dalton in Chanute, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in Chanute, graduating from Chanute High School in 1956.
Following high school, Larry joined the United States Navy. He served for four years, two of which were spent on the U.S.S. Richard Anderson Destroyer. After leaving the service, Larry returned to Chanute and worked for H.K. Porter Company and Kansas Bearing Supply both in Coffeyville. He then worked for Consolidated Oil in Chanute. In 1987, he moved to Oswego and owned and operated the John Deere Dealership in Miami, Oklahoma.
In earlier years, Larry was the member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the American Legion Chanute Post. The VFW was a big part of Larry's life. He was a lifetime member of the Chanute VFW, was Commander of the 3 rd District in Kansas and served on the VFW state convention committee for 15 years. Larry was also involved in his local community, serving on the Oswego Housing Committee for 18 years. A favorite community activity of Larry's was supporting local youth ball teams. He didn't have a favorite player or sport, but loved watching all youth have fun, learn, and compete. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing.
He married Sharon Gibson. She preceded him in death in December 1986. On April 3, 1987, Larry and Clara Jean "Jeanne" Silvis were united in marriage. She survives of the home.

Theresa Farris of Oswego, Kansas
Eleven grandchildren
Twenty-three great-grandchildren
One brother – Adrian Dalton of Dodge City, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tracy Dalton; two grandchildren; and one brother, Max Dalton.
Graveside service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021, at the Oswego Cemetery. Military Honors will be given by the Brown-Bishop Post #704, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Parsons. The service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
