Larry D. Swanwick, 76, of Parsons, passed away at 12:16 p.m., Friday, August 25, 2017 at his home following a brief illness.

He was born March 15, 1941 in rural Oswego, Kansas to Frank and Mildred Louise (Walker) Swanwick. At the age of seven, Larry moved with his family to the rural Parsons area where he grew up and attended school.

On November 11, 1960, he and Betty J. McCartney were married in Miami, Oklahoma. He worked in auto parts stores for many years including Haskett & Pedlar Auto Supply and Melvin's Napa Auto Parts, both in Parsons and Carter Automotive in Coffeyville. He most recently was employed by Ducommon Aero Structures in Parsons.

Larry was a member of the Parsons Church of the Nazarene and Adams Masonic Lodge #63 AF&AM in Oswego. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and working on cars.

Survivors include, his wife, Betty, of the home; one son, Mike Swanwick and his wife, Tonya, of Parsons; one daughter, Tonya Waggoner and her husband, Eddy, of Parsons; three grandchildren, Trevor Waggoner and his wife, Erin, Kyle Waggoner and his wife, Claire Willis, and Hillary Hilderbrand and her husband Heath; two great-grandchildren, Rowan Hilderbrand and Jude Waggoner; one brother, Francis "Sonny" Swanwick and his wife, Alma, of Oswego; three sisters, Shirley McDaniel Alford and her husband Gerald, of Edna, Phyllis Czapansky and her husband, Ray of rural Parsons, and Sherry Swanwick of Tulsa, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews as well as close personal friends, Bob and Jane Lewis of Desert Hot Springs, California and the whole Spruill Family.

In addition to his parents, Frank and Mildred Swanwick, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Dale Swanwick and two sisters, Erma Jean Swanwick and Mildred Tina Rice.

Following cremation, a Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Parsons Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Christie Walker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Parsons Church of the Nazarene. These may be left at or mailed to the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, Kansas 67357.
