Larry L. Tompkins

Larry L. Tompkins, 67, of Independence, passed away at 3:40 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Labette Health, Parsons.

Larry Lynn Tompkins was born on November 17, 1956, to Whirly Gay and Addie Mae (Baker) Tompkins in Grants Pass, Oregon.

His love for the outdoors started in his youth, growing up camping, hiking and canoeing.  Throughout his life, he loved fishing and hunting.  He also enjoyed playing billards.  His greatest joy came from being with his children.

On June 19, 1977, Larry and Linda Kay Lake were united in marriage in the Allegan Forest in Michigan.  She survives of the home.

Four daughters – Cora Wright and her husband, Robert, of Edmond, Oklahoma

Bobbie Monroy of Independence, Kansas

Kay Gates and her fiancé, Wesley Noble, of Eureka, Kansas

Stacy Sherman and her husband, Michael, of Culver, Indiana

14 grandchildren

12 great-grandchildren

One great-great-grandchild

Two sisters – Ethel Sanders of Fowler, Colorado

Martha Weeks of Hays, Kansas

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Cremation is under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.  There will be a service at a later date.
