Laurie was born May 26, 1956, at Parsons Mercy Hospital to E. L. and Marjorie (Stough) Howard of Erie.
She attended Erie schools, graduating from Erie High School in 1974, and was a member of the Erie Federated Church.

She loved being back home, spending many hours tending to her flowers and enjoying nature. She was happiest when outside in her garden checking her tomatoes and the other vegetables she grew.
Laurie worked for a time at Locke Abstract Company in Erie, and later owned and operated R & L Smoke Shop in Parsons.
Laurie is survived by her mother, Marjorie Howard, and a sister, Nancy Martin, both of Erie; a brother, Frank Howard, and his wife Eve, of Nashville, Tennessee; a niece, Elizabeth Martin of Longmont, Colorado; and nephews, Andrew Martin of Seattle, Washington; and Charles Howard of Nashville, Tennessee.
