Lawrence Richard Erickson, 89, of Edna, died at 3:05 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2011, at Deseret Health and Rehab in Oswego.
He was born March 16, 1922, in Elsmore, Kansas to Arthur and Anna (Ahnlund) Erickson. He was a 1941 graduate of Savonburg High School.
On May 28, 1950, he and Gladine Larson were married in Savonburg. After marriage, he farmed and worked other jobs in Savonburg, Erie, Humboldt and Parsons. In September of 1987, he retired as Propane Plant Manger from Union LP Gas Systems, Inc., in Edna following 31 years of service. After retirement, he worked part-time at Kanoma Co-op in Coffeyville as a serviceman.
He was an active member of the Edna United Methodist Church where he served in capacities of trustee and Sunday school superintendent. Through the years, he also served as member on the Edna School Board, the Senior Housing Board and mayor of the City of Edna. He especially enjoyed helping people, farming, gardening, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Children – Pearl (daughter) and Ron Walters of Grove, OK;
Richard (son) and Helen Erickson of Edna, KS and their daughter, Jenna Ashe Campbell and grandson, Ealijah Ashe of Herndon, VA;
Lewis (son) and Nancy Erickson of Wichita, KS and their children, Rose Erickson and fiancé, Kelly Payne of Wichita, KS, Betsy (Nathan) Rogg of Mission, KS and Robert Erickson of Wichita, KS;
David Erickson (son) of Rockwall, TX
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the Edna United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2011, at the church. Friends may call at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont from 1-5:00 p.m., on Monday.
