Lawrence P. "Larry" Schoenhofer, 71, of Erie, passed away at 10:30 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
Lawrence Phillip Schoenhofer was born on February 21, 1951, to George E. and Mary Lida (Fowler) Schoenhofer in St. Paul, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in St. Paul.
At the age of 17, Larry joined the United States Army and was stationed in Korea and Germany. Following his discharge from the army, he lived in the Walnut/St. Paul area and worked at Schoenhofer saw mill in St. Paul and as a stone mason. In December of 1974, Larry and Marilyn Simons were united in marriage. The couple later divorced. Following the divorce, he worked as a brick layer in Missouri, later moving to Claremore, Oklahoma. In his later years, Larry worked in hotel maintenance for several hotels in Branson before moving to Erie. His favorite hobby was woodworking and he spent much of his spare time building furniture and painting.

One son – Aaron Schoenhofer of Girard, Kansas
Two daughters – Leah Tierney and her husband, Mark, of Frontenac, Kansas
Cristy Koester of Wichita, Kansas
Five grandchildren – Marlea Tierney, Izabelle Tierney, Cameron Lacen, Bryson Koester, and Kyrah Koester
One great-grandson – Henri Koester
Four brothers – Joe Schoenhofer and his wife, Ruth Ann, of St. Paul, Kansas
Bill Schoenhofer and his wife, Nancy, of Erie, Kansas
Chris Schoenhofer of St. Paul, Kansas
Ed Schoenhofer of Nevada, Missouri
Four sisters – Margaret Tallman of Denver, Colorado
Doris Bennett and her husband, Gerald, of Wichita, Kansas
Pat Moore of Parsons, Kansas
Joan Unruh of Flagstaff, Arizona
Numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and J.D. Schoenhofer; and two sisters, Helen Coomes and Aggie Paulie.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery with military honors presented by the Brown-Bishop VFW Post 704. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Francis Catholic Church. Family will receive friends after the rosary.
