Lenore E. Schauf

Lenore E. Schauf, 85, of Parsons, died at 4:15 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Woodridge Estates in Parsons. She was born January 2, 1929 in Ransom, Kansas to Joseph Frank and Josephine Margaret (Buchholz) Gronniger. As a young girl, she grew up in Sharon Springs, Cheney, and Garden Plain, Kansas. Lenore was a 1946 graduate of Garden Plain High School. Following high school, she worked in Wichita for Monarch Investment Company and Wheeler, Kelly & Hagny Investment Company. On May 17, 1952, she and Norbert Schauf were married at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Garden Plain, Kansas. Following marriage, the couple lived in Conway Springs, Kansas until moving in 1964 to their farm west of Parsons. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2002. She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, now St. Patrick Catholic Church, and its Altar Society. In earlier years, she was a member of the St. Isidore farm group at St. Mary's church. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening, canning, reading, playing Skip-Bo, working jigsaw puzzles and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include: One Son – Stanley E. Schauf and wife, Rita Parsons, KS Two Daughters – Nancy M. Wells and husband, Roger Americus, KS Jeanette M. Quirin and husband, John Parsons, KS Five Grandchildren Six Great-Grandchildren In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends following the rosary at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
