W. Leon, Bolinger, 84, of Stroud, Oklahoma, and formerly of the Labette County area, passed away at 5:56 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at his home.

Wallace Leon Bolinger was born on October 18, 1935, to William Leonard and Carrie (Lamb) Bolinger in rural Porterville, Kansas. As a young boy he grew up in Stark and Walnut areas and on a farm southwest of Dennis. He graduated from Parsons High School and attended Labette County Junior College.

From the age of 19, Leon began a long profession as a truck driver. He began driving for Lloyd Berkemier, Harold Wallingford, and Sunflower Sales. Followed by custom farming for Alan Richardson; then back to the truck, driving for Fuel Dynamics, Inc., Eagle Pitcher Mine; Bob Mattox; Farm Fresh; Ray Accord; and Reedy Trucking. He earned recognitions such as Driver of the Year and the One Million Miles Accident-Free Certificate. Leon lived in various places during his career including rural Parsons and Oswego, Ks. Later followed by Burbank and Stroud, Ok where he has lived the past 32 years.

On February 2, 1956, Leon and Carol Wagoner were married. The couple later divorced. Leon and Phyllis Lawson Glenn were united in marriage on October 5, 1976. She survives of the home.

Bill Bolinger of Gainsville, Texas

Rick Glenn and his wife, Stacey, of Stroud, Oklahoma

Three daughters — Brenda Kite of Louisburg, Kansas

Rhonda Clower and her husband, Kenny, of Apache Junction, Arizonia

Suzette Rakestraw and her husband, Ed, of Chetopa, Kansas

One brother—William Leonard "Bill" Bolinger, Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Altoona, Kansas

25 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; along with multiple nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Ashley Kebert and Nicole "Nikki" Bellinger; one sister, Helen LaVena Bolinger; and two brothers, George and Everett Bolinger.

The Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2020, at the Oswego Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons, Ks.
