Leona F. Clifton-Journot, 80, of Parsons, died at 9:25 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at her home.
She was born July 16, 1933 in Parsons, Kansas to Albert H. and Emma Alice (Oler) Stringer. As a young girl, she grew up on a farm and attended schools in Parsons.
On March 11, 1950, she and Eddie "Bud" Clifton were married in Detroit, Michigan. Following marriage, they lived in Parsons where they owned and operated a trucking company. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1997. On December 21, 2002, she and Edward "Pete" Journot were married in Parsons. He survives of the home.
She was a member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, now St. Patrick's, its Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. She also was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary and in earlier years had served as a "pink lady" at the Katy Hospital.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and friends. She also enjoyed a good debate, crafts, bowling and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Eugene, Jay, Leonard, Art and Sam Stringer; an infant daughter, Connie Sujean Clifton; and a stepson, Mitchell E. Journot.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Daughters of Isabella rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Friday, at the church and will be followed by the parish rosary at 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. in parish hall at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or Mercy Health Foundation Springfield to assist pediatric cancer patients in the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
