Leona B. McCrery, 91, of Independence, formerly of Altamont, died at 3:15 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Heatherwood Nursing Home in Independence.
She was born February 14, 1915 in Columbia, South Carolina to Lawrence and Alice (Kelly) Latta. At a young age she moved with her family to Detroit. In 1945 she moved to Cherryvale, Kansas. She worked at Reliance Manufacturing in Cherryvale for nine years and the H.D. Lee Company for thirteen years. In 1966, she moved to Altamont where she operated a day care center for several years before retiring.
She enjoyed working puzzles, crocheting, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Cherryvale and the Eagles Auxiliary No. 411 in Parsons.
On February 21, 1933 she married Albert Clark in Hemmingway, South Carolina. He preceded her in death March 18, 1955. She married A. J. McCrery on August 6, 1966 in Altamont. He preceded her in death.

One Son - Gordon L. Clark Deer Lodge, Montana
One Daughter -Barbara Jones La Junta, Colorado
Numerous Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and Great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by one brother, "J.B." Latta; one sister, Mattie Tucker; one son, David Clark; one daughter, Gloria Underwood, and one great-grandson.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer's Research. These may be mailed to or left at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, 510 Wabash, P.O.
