St. Paul

LEONA V. QUIRIN, 94, of St. Paul, and formerly of Parsons, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 with family at her side at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.

Leona was born on October 10, 1921 in Parsons, Kansas to William Gillmore and Josephine (Bisnett) Gillmore. She married Henry J. Quirin on October 22, 1938 in Columbus, Kansas. Leona and Henry enjoyed over 76 years together with 47 of those years being in the home that Henry personally constructed. Prior to moving to this home in Parsons, Leona and Henry resided and farmed the 80-acre Quirin homeplace located northeast of Parsons that was originally homesteaded by Henry's grandfather. It was there where Leona spent most of her life and she and Henry would raise their three children. During the bulk of her adult years, Leona worked at various garment factories in Parsons.

Leona enjoyed making quilts, sewing, cooking, playing cards with family and friends, and spending quality time with her family especially during the holiday season. Leona's vast span of life provided her with many experiences both good and bad. Her children and grandchildren were blessed many times over with the stories she commonly shared.

Survivors include children, James (Dixie) Quirin of Parsons, KS and Carol Trammell of Kansas City, KS; grandchildren Sabrina, Susan, Fred, Jeff, Grant, Stacy, and Garrett; and great-grandchildren Krystle, Tiffany, Dalton, Dylan, Danica, Jayce, Jager, and Greyson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; a daughter, Bonnie LeTourneau, and her husband, Gene; her parents, one brother, and four sisters.
