Leonard W. Kennedy, 81, of St. Paul, passed away the evening of Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Wilson Medical Center in Neodesha.

Leonard Wayne Kennedy was born on March 14, 1943, to Charles T. and Bertha E. (Shively) Kennedy in Walnut, Kansas.  At the age of three, he moved with his family to St. Paul, where he grew up and attended school.  Following high school, he earned a diploma in drafting from the vocational school at Pittsburg State University.

For several years, Leonard worked for Coomes Construction Company in St. Paul.  From 1978 to 1988, he owned and operated Lynn's Drive-In. In 1997, he retired from Beachner Construction.

He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul.

One of his favorite past times was to relax and watch television.

On July 14, 1962, Leonard and Sharon Sears were united in marriage at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul.  The couple later divorced.

Survivors include:

One daughter – Lynne Lohse of Sierra Vista, Arizona

One grandson – Brian Nieuwenhuis

Two great-granddaughters

Two brothers – Harold Kennedy of Gardner, Kansas

Melvin Kennedy of Drexel, Missouri

One sister – Louise Jarboe of St. Paul, Kansas

He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Kennedy; and one sister, Clara Westen.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2024, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul.  The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., at the church prior to the Mass.  Burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to Prairie Mission Retirement Village, Knights of Columbus – Council 760, or St. Francis Catholic Church to benefit the church garden.  These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
