Leonia M. Pyles, 95, of Parsons, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:16 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Labette Health in Parsons.

She was born July 31, 1921 in Denison, Texas to Aaron I. and Annie (Rushing) Dunaway. As a young girl, Leonia grew up in El Paso and later returned to Denison.

On November 17, 1940, she and Theodore Lincoln "Ted" Pyles, Jr. were married in Denison, Texas. After marriage, the couple lived in Sand Springs, Oklahoma for a time before returning to Denison where she worked in textile mills while her husband worked for the M-K-T Railroad. In 1965, they moved to Parsons where her husband continued his employment with the railroad and she worked as an inspector at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant. She later worked as a housekeeper at the Townsman Motel until retiring.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Parsons. Leonia enjoyed crocheting, flowers, wildlife, and all her pets.

Survivors include her loving husband of 76 years, Ted Pyles, of the home; one son, David Pyles and his wife, Leanne, of Parsons, KS; and two sisters, Josephine Ford and Janet Anthony, both of Denison, TX.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Aaron Dunaway, Jr., Leon Dunaway, and Arthur Lee Dunaway.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. No services are planned at this time.
