Leslie A. LaRue, 70, of Parsons, passed away at 3:20 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Labette Health.
He was born February 2, 1945 in Parsons, Kansas to Earl William and Beulah Jane (Harding) LaRue. He grew up and attended school in Parsons and was a 1963 graduate of Parsons High School.
Following high school, he began working as a brakeman at the Katy Railroad. He then served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge, he continued working at the railroad until retiring, at the age of 60, as an engineer at the Union Pacific Railroad.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, the Elks – BPOE Lodge No. 527, and longtime member of the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles and four-wheelers.
He and Margaret R. "Marge" Lewis were married December 28, 1970 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

One Son – Tom LaRue and wife, Heather Kingman, KS
Three Grandchildren – Melissa LaRue, Devon LaRue, and Regan LaRue
He was preceded in death by two sons, Dean LaRue in 1964 and Leslie E. "Butch" LaRue on July 13, 2006; one brother, Fred LaRue, and one sister, Aeritta Daniels.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons with military honors given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
