Lester U. Herridge, 80, of Baldwin City, Kansas, died at 5:10 p.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at the Claremore Veterans Administration Center in Claremore, Oklahoma.
He was born October 12, 1926 in Bluff City, Kansas to Edward and Vivian Mae (Cantwell) Herridge. At age seven, he and his family moved to rural Chetopa.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific and occupied Japan. He resided in Wichita, Clearwater and Udall while working as a line foreman at Beech Aircraft in Wichita for 38 years before retiring.
He married Nadine Kepford July 15, 1944. They later divorced. On December 9, 1995 he and Pat Gregory were married in Ketchum. Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
He enjoyed reading his bible and gardening. Through the years, he served as a lay pastor and treasurer in the United Methodist and Assembly of God churches he attended and also was a choir member. He was a member of the Church on the Lake in Ketchum, Oklahoma.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2006 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family has suggested memorials to the Alzheimer's Disease Association or to the Church on the Lake, Ketchum, Oklahoma.
