Letha L. Butts, 94, of rural Cherryvale, died at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons.
She was born May 29, 1917, in rural Mound Valley, Kansas, in the Penfield area, to Albert and Eliza (Spoonamore) Nelson. She grew up in rural Mound Valley and was a 1934 graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
She married Braum D. Butts in 1946. Following marriage, they lived in Kansas City, Kansas until returning to Mound Valley in 1950. He preceded her in death in February of 1980.
She was a member of the Mound Valley United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Homemakers Club, Over 80 Club and the Mound Valley Booster Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting.

Joe Butts of the home, rural Cherryvale, KS
Jim Butts and wife, Becky Cherryvale, KS
One Daughter – Jane Larsen and husband, Tim Springdale, AR
Six Grandchildren
Two Great-Grandchildren
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held with burial in the Mound Valley Cemetery.
