Altamont

Linda G. Holtzman, 78, of Altamont, passed away the morning of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at her home.

Linda Gay Orr was born on August 7, 1945, to Elmer and Edith (Timmons) Orr in Tulia, Texas.  As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Thayer area, where she grew up and attended school, graduating from Thayer High School in 1963.

She continued her education at Pittsburg State University and earned a bachelor's degree in education.  She had a long career in public education, which included teaching positions in the Thayer and USD 506 Labette County (20 years at Meadow View Elementary) schools and as a librarian for the Oswego schools.

Committed to her Christian faith, Linda attended the First Baptist Church in Altamont, where she shared her musical talent playing the piano.  She was also a member of the Altamont Itchin' for Stitchin' Quilting Guild.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed sewing and quilting.

On June 5, 1965, Linda and Robert L. Holtzman were united in marriage.  He preceded her in death on March 3, 2003.

Survivors include:

Two sons – Robert Shane Holtzman and his wife, Amy Jo, of Altamont, Kansas

Vance Holtzman and his wife, Danielle, of Wichita, Kansas

Six grandchildren – Kendall Holtzman, Noah Holtzman, Emily Holtzman, Molly Holtzman, Abby Holtzman, and Lucy Holtzman

One sister – Lesa Noggle and her husband, Gary, of Perryton, Texas

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont.  The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home until the service begins.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Altamont or the Itchin' for Stitchin' Quilting Guild.  These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS  67357.
