Linda R. Newkirk-Sexton

Linda R. (Newkirk) Sexton, 63, a lifelong resident of Parsons, went to be with Jesus and her heavenly family at 2:43 a.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 5, 1950 in Fall River, Kansas to Toby North and Clara Bell (Hosler) Newkirk. She attended McKinley Elementary School, Parsons Jr. High, and Labette County Community High School in Altamont. She was a member of the Parsons Nazarene Church. Her family was her passion. She dearly loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. Linda enjoyed music and dancing, antiques, going to flea markets and auctions, and was a caring person who always put others first. Survivors include: One Son – Scott Sexton Joplin, MO Three Daughters – Crista Stover Parsons, KS Lori Sexton and her husband, Charles Williams Joplin, MO Nikki Sexton and her husband, John St. Paul, KS Grandchildren – Haley and Mark, Whitney and Lauren of Parsons, KS; Kaylee, Bryson, Kinsey, Kamri, Mickey and Shianne of Joplin, MO; Ashlynn, Chase, Kaedon and Patricia of St. Paul, KS; and Tucker of Oswego, KS One Great-Grandson – Isaac of Parsons, KS One Sister – Joyce Kendall Rowlett, TX She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert G. "Bob" Newkirk and William G. Newkirk. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Labette Health Foundation for breast cancer prevention.
