Lloyd E. Horton

Lloyd E. Horton, 86, of St. Paul, died at 3:00 a.m., Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.

He was born January 5, 1924, in St. Paul, Kansas, to Julius A. and Della F. (Spoonemore) Horton. As a young boy, he grew up on the family farm at St. Paul and was a 1942 graduate of St. Paul High School.

On May 26, 1943, he entered the United States Navy where he served his country during World War II. Following his honorable discharge on April 18, 1946, he returned to St. Paul before moving to Casper, Wyoming, where he was employed by Freight Ways as a dockworker and truck driver. After his retirement in 1995, he returned to St. Paul where he had lived since.

He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1654 in Chanute. He enjoyed gardening, watching sports, especially the KU Jayhawks, and was a proud supporter of the St. Paul Indians Athletics.

He and Bonnie Creech were in married in 1946 at St. Paul. They later divorced. On September 29, 1956, he and Virginia A. Blanding were married in Casper, Wyoming. She preceded him in death on September 19, 1973.

Twin Brother, Floyd R. Horton Parsons, KS

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery near St. Paul. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday.
