Rural Parsons

Lois A. Bevans, 74, of rural Parsons, passed away at 5:21 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at her home.

She was born May 25, 1943 in McCune, Kansas to Harvey Laverne and Inez (Shaffer) Baldwin. As a young girl, Lois grew up in the McCune area and attended McCune Grade School. She then attended Parsons High School where she graduated in 1961.

She worked at AT&T in Dodge City, Kansas for 10 years before returning to Parsons where she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for 37 years until retiring.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Lois was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Parsons, the West Mineral Eagle's Club, and the Parsons Elks Lodge.  She enjoyed traveling and playing Bingo.

She and W.O. "Wimp" Bevans were married July 22, 1984 in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.

Melissa Jacobs and her husband, Josh                            Cherokee, KS

Numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda McMillan; one stepdaughter, Dianne Thorpe; one brother, Lynn; and two sisters, Kay and Marjorie.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
