Lois A. (Masters) Van Sickle, 90, of rural Coffeyville, passed away at 6:29 a.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018 at her home.
She was born September 23, 1927 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Fred J. and Mattie (Polson) Masters. She attended John Swett Union High School in Crockett, California, earned an Associate of Arts degree from Coffeyville Community College, and later attended the University of Denver.
She and Albert Lee Van Sickle were married December 16, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Following marriage, they lived in Coffeyville until moving to Leawood, Kansas in 1999. She returned to Coffeyville following the death of her husband on January 13, 2006.
From 1961-1968, Lois worked as an administrative assistant for Unified School District #445 in the Board of Education office. She then worked on the campus of Coffeyville Community College from 1969-1989.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and going on nature walks.
Survivors include:
One Son – Steven J. Van Sickle and his wife, Teresa, of Kansas City, MO
One Daughter – Janice Tuchscherer and her husband, Jerry, of rural Coffeyville, KS
Daughter-in-law – Jenny Jackson of Kansas City
Eight Grandchildren
Six Great-Grandchildren
One Great-Great-Grandson
One Sister – Donna Keller of Parsons, KS
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Randy L. Van Sickle, on October 5, 2014; and one sister, Joyce Landrum.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
Memorials are suggested to Coffeyville Community College or the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
