Loreta J. "Nig" Mundy, 89, a lifelong resident of Parsons, died at 8:15 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2007, at Labette Health. She had been in failing health.

She was born November 22, 1918, in Parsons, to Hurley Monroe and Dora Mabel (Stemple) Hughes. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons.

She and L. A. Stringer were married. They later divorced. She and Norman S. Mundy were married March 3, 1956, in Parsons. He survives of the home.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Parsons and the AMOMA Sunday School Class. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts and doing volunteer work. Throughout her lifetime, she made several hundred lap quilts that she gave to those that were sick and in need.

One Daughter – Rebecca Gray Oronogo, MO
Seven Grandchildren
Numerous Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Woodruff, one brother, four sisters and one granddaughter.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2007, at the Forbes Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery.
