Louise (Mayfield) Wagner, 91, of Chetopa, passed away at 9:50 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Chetopa Manor.
She was born May 24, 1925 near Melrose, Kansas to Jasper Earl and Betty Ray (Sexton) Mayfield. As a young girl, Louise grew up in the Melrose area. She attended Columbus and Chetopa schools and graduated from Chetopa High School.
On September 3, 1976 she and Charles Eugene Wagner were married in Chetopa. On that day she became a bride, a mother, and a grandmother. Through the years, she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, Lee Manufacturing, and in food service at Chetopa schools until her retirement.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Chetopa. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her church, crocheting, reading, and going to garage sales.

Stepson – Mike Wagner and his wife, Elizabeth KY
Stepdaughters – Debbie Ray and her husband, Carl Miami, OK
Elaine Wagner Miami, OK
Numerous Step-Grandchildren, Step-Great-Grandchildren, Great-Nieces and Nephews, and Great-Great-Nieces and Nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eugene Wagner, on May 25, 1994; one brother, Andrew Lee Mayfield; and a stepdaughter, Joan Gaches.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
